We set up KLIMCHI to create emotions, to bring fresh yet functional designs to your homes and lives. We hope you will appreciate the high level of artisanship and love we put into each product that we produce as well as our values which are really important to us.

KLIMCHI would like to bring you moments of tranquillity with your family over a glass of your favourite beverage. We build on tradition stretching beyond the beginning of the last century. All KLIMCHI glassware is hand-produced in a small city of Kamenicky Senov which is considered to be a Mecca for glassmaking. The city has become the cradle of world-renowned glass manufacturing and design over the centuries. Bohemian glass ensures a hallmark of quality, glass artisanship which is hard to be found anywhere else.

The history of the glassmaking, our factory and the city starts in the 16th century when local people strived for other means of livelihood to secure their families due to the lack of farming opportunities in the country filled with rocks and forests. They logically experimented with glass which subsequently transformed the face of the region throughout the following centuries. The craft of local people advanced and the place gained its fame for the high level of quality of production.

Connecting the city with railway in 1886 brought Kamenicky Senov into a new era and enabled the first industrial glassworks to be built in the town. The town was granted city’s privileges in 1900 by the Emperor Franz Joseph I. and our factory was established 5 years later making it the second oldest glassworks in the city. French engineers constructing the Eiffel Tower were invited to build the steel structures of the factory and even after more than 100 years our factory belongs to one of the most historical and beautiful buildings in the region.

Since 1905 our glassworks was known for creating timeless pieces of outstanding quality, close cooperation with artists and glass artisans and human attitude reflected in our products. We keep the name of our founder Antonin Jilek on our factory chimney to commemorate the principles he stood for. To this day we continue to stand firmly and proudly build on this very foundation and legacy of our forefathers.
